Artist Statement

In my work I explore the mystical nature of creation, the mechanical study of biology, and the hypnotic potential of painting and drawing. Translating that into visual terms my work inhabits a process of transformation (literally and metaphorically) while at the same time it is a record of experience. Each painting develops through plastic layers of acrylic paint resulting in tactile, seductive surfaces of complex patterns that are organically motivated and intrinsically artificial. Each drawing develops as an inquiry into a specific type of mark making related to the concept I am investigating.
